One Side to the Other | Akram Khan, 2014

One Side to the Other, The Lowry, 2015 - Produced by Fourth Flight Films for the FT.

Best known for blending Indian kathak with modern dance, choreographer Akram Khan draws on diverse influences including contemporary art, philosophy and science. As the second appointment of The Lowry's Performer As Curator series, Khan transformed the Manchester gallery into a den of art, film and performance that gave visitors a glimpse into the worlds that inspire him. The exhibition, titled One Side to the Other, featured paintings and sculptures by artists including Anish Kapoor, Antony Gormley and Kate MccGwire, as well as live performances from some of Khan's dancers.

"Her attention to detail is phenomenal. It reminds me of cells and atoms. There's something scientific about it, but then again you go up close and you see that there's nature because there are feathers." - Akram Khan on Kate's work
